ADVANCED RECOVERY TECHNOLOGY · TAMPA

Laser & shockwave therapy for stubborn pain and tissue injuries.

Two non-invasive technologies with different mechanisms: focused light energy and acoustic wave energy. Both are used to reduce pain, calm irritated tissue, and support the body’s repair process.

TWO DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES

Laser and shockwave work differently — and that is exactly why both belong in the toolkit.

They are not interchangeable treatments. The right choice depends on the tissue involved, the condition being treated, and how your body responds.

HIGH-INTENSITY LASER THERAPY

Focused light energy that penetrates deep into tissue.

High-intensity laser therapy delivers focused light energy into muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints. That energy is used to stimulate cellular activity associated with the body’s natural repair process.

The higher intensity allows treatment to reach deeper tissue than older, low-powered cold-laser devices, with sessions often completed in just a few minutes.

EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Acoustic waves that stimulate irritated or chronically injured tissue.

Shockwave therapy uses high-energy acoustic waves delivered through the skin to the affected area. Gel is applied first, then controlled pulses are directed into the target tissue.

The treatment is used to increase local blood flow, stimulate tissue regeneration, influence pain signaling, and help break down calcium deposits in certain tendon and soft-tissue problems.

WHAT WE USE IT FOR

Especially useful when soft-tissue pain refuses to settle down.

WHY COMBINE THESE WITH CHIROPRACTIC CARE?

Because pain, tissue irritation, and mechanical dysfunction are not always the same problem.

Laser and shockwave therapy are not replacements for chiropractic care. They can be used alongside adjustments, spinal decompression, and corrective exercise when soft tissue or local inflammation is part of the clinical picture.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Quick treatment. No complicated recovery.

We first determine whether laser or shockwave therapy is appropriate for your condition. If it is, treatment is performed in the office and the schedule is adjusted based on your diagnosis and response.

1

Assessment

We confirm the treatment is a reasonable fit for your condition before the first session.

2

Treatment

A focused in-office session using laser or shockwave technology. Many sessions take only a few minutes.

3

Return to Activity

There is no planned downtime, and patients can typically return to normal daily activity the same day.

4

Follow-Up

Frequency is tailored to the condition and adjusted according to how the tissue responds.

WHAT DOES LASER FEEL LIKE?

Usually gentle warmth.

High-intensity laser therapy is typically comfortable. Patients commonly describe a warming sensation over the treated area.

WHAT DOES SHOCKWAVE FEEL LIKE?

A controlled pulsing sensation.

Shockwave therapy produces repeated acoustic pulses. The sensation can be noticeable and may be mildly uncomfortable over a sensitive area, but intensity is controlled throughout treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions about laser and shockwave therapy.

Does laser or shockwave therapy hurt?

Laser therapy is typically experienced as gentle warmth. Shockwave therapy can create a mild pulsing or tapping sensation, particularly over an irritated area.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies by condition. We recommend a schedule after the evaluation and adjust it according to how you respond to treatment.

Is this a replacement for chiropractic care?

No. Laser and shockwave therapy can complement chiropractic adjustments, spinal decompression, and corrective exercise as part of a broader treatment plan.

Are these treatments non-invasive?

Yes. Both treatments are non-invasive and drug-free. We first determine whether either technology is appropriate for your specific condition.
